Data

Data Sources and Coverage

Where does the data come from?

Contracts.si uses public government contract and award records from sources such as SAM.gov, USAspending.gov, and selected official state or local open-data portals. Where possible, records preserve a link back to the official public source.

Is Contracts.si a government website?

No. Contracts.si is an independent commercial research product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by SAM.gov, USAspending.gov, Socrata, or any government agency.

Does the app include federal and state/local records?

Yes. The product includes federal records and a growing beta corpus of state and local records from official open-data sources. State and local coverage will expand over time based on data quality, freshness, and reliable access.

How fresh is the data?

The system is designed to prioritize recent records, with nightly refreshes for supported sources. Some public sources update more quickly than others, so each record should be checked against its official source before a high-stakes decision.

Do you keep old records?

The production corpus is intended to focus on records within the product's retention rules, with recent records emphasized. Older records may be removed or excluded when they are outside the useful research window or when source dates indicate they are stale.

Why do some records have missing NAICS or PSC codes?

Public sources do not always publish complete classification fields. When codes are missing, Contracts.si may still show the record but will label the data quality so users know to inspect the title, description, agency, and source link more carefully.

AI Features

AI Answers and Briefs

Can I receive immediate answers and insight through the AI feature?

Yes. Paid workspaces can use AI-assisted features to ask questions, search by meaning, and generate opportunity briefs. The AI can help explain likely needs, outreach angles, data quality, and next steps, but users should verify official source records before acting.

What is an AI opportunity brief?

An AI opportunity brief summarizes what happened, why the record may matter, likely vendor needs, suggested outreach, timing, source context, and data-quality cautions in a concise review format.

Does AI replace capture research?

No. The AI features are research accelerators, not substitutes for professional judgment. They help users decide what to inspect, prioritize, and validate before outreach, teaming, bid, or compliance decisions.

Can semantic search find records even if I do not know the exact keywords?

Yes. Semantic search is designed for plain-language queries such as "cybersecurity subcontracting demand" or "agencies buying compliance support." It searches by meaning and then lets users filter and inspect matching public records.

Plans and Billing

Subscriptions, Usage, and Cancellation

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel before the next renewal. Cancellation stops future renewal charges, and paid access continues until the end of the current billing period.

Do you offer refunds after cancellation?

Unless required by law, paid subscriptions are non-refundable. If you cancel, you keep access through the rest of the paid billing period rather than receiving a prorated refund.

Is the free plan monthly?

Yes. Free-plan usage is treated as a monthly allowance so users can evaluate the workspace before choosing a paid plan.

What counts against my search allowance?

Plan usage is designed to count meaningful new searches. Repeating the same search parameters within the caching window should not consume credits again, so users are not penalized for reopening or checking the same query shortly afterward.

What happens if I reach a plan limit?

The app may ask you to wait for the next usage period or upgrade to a higher plan. Limits help keep search, AI briefs, and exports available at a predictable cost.

Can teams use one account?

Team usage is best handled through a plan designed for multiple users or agency workflows. Shared credentials are not recommended because saved searches, usage, exports, and account security are tied to the account.

Workflow

Using Contracts.si

Who is Contracts.si built for?

Contracts.si is built for capture teams, subcontractors, GovCon consultants, business-development teams, and vendors that want to monitor public-sector buying signals and award activity.

What problem does Contracts.si solve?

Public award data is available, but it is scattered, technical, and time-consuming to interpret. Contracts.si packages public records into searchable, source-linked workflows with context, summaries, and follow-up tools.

Can I save records for later?

Yes. Users can save records and use them as a working list for follow-up, research, review, or outreach planning.

Can I export briefs?

Paid plans can include export capability so users can prepare concise PDF review packets for internal business-development or capture discussions.

Can I inspect the official source?

Yes. Records are designed to keep source links where possible so users can verify official details before relying on a signal.

Trust and Compliance

Responsible Use

Can I rely on Contracts.si for legal, procurement, or compliance advice?

No. Contracts.si is a research and workflow tool. It does not provide legal, procurement, financial, compliance, or government-contracting advice.

Why should users pay if source links are public?

You are paying for convenience, search, prioritization, enrichment, AI-assisted interpretation, workflow tools, and time savings. The official source remains available so users can verify the underlying public record.

How should I use suggested outreach language?

Treat suggested outreach as a starting point. Review the source record, confirm fit, and tailor messages to your company, capabilities, relationship, and compliance requirements.

Is my payment information stored by Contracts.si?

No payment card details are stored by Contracts.si. Subscription payments are handled by Stripe, and Contracts.si stores only the billing identifiers needed to manage account access.

How do I contact support?

Use the contact form on the site. Support messages are routed internally without publishing the support email address on the page.
